JPO Commissioner Attended the Meeting with Attendees Involved IP in the U.S.

From September 17 to September 19, the 45th Intellectual Property Owners Association Annual Meeting was held in San Francisco (US) and Ms. Munakata, Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office (JPO) attended the Meeting.
In this Meeting, a variety of sessions on the theme of big data, an artificial intelligence (AI), Standard Essential Patents, etc. were conducted and Ms. Munakata, Commissioner of the JPO delivered a speech on the history of the development of the intellectual property system according to the changes in economic society and new challenges in the IoT era. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Ms. Munakata, Commissioner of the JPO visited Silicon Valley U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She also extensively exchanged views on measures to deal with the challenges created by IoT including Standard Essential Patents with Mr. Kappos, the former Director of the USPTO, Mr. Robart, judge of the United States District Courts and experts in intellectual property, such as directors in charge of intellectual property of U.S. companies.
