Companies and individuals in Sichuan province own more than 451,000 valid trademarks, ranking No 1 in western China, according to statistics from the provincial administration for industry and commerce. The province saw 133,365 trademark applications this year by Sept 15, increasing 48 percent year-on-year. More than 65,262 trademarks were registered during the same period, up 29 percent. Registration offices have opened in five cities, which had received more than 8,000 applications by the end of September.
