UK Solicitor Body Presents Brexit Concerns for IP

2018/01/12

The representative body for solicitors in England and Wales, the Law Society, has sent a note to UK government officials detailing concerns around what leaving the EU will mean for IP continuity. Organisations that represent the major IP professions in the UK, such as IP solicitors, supported the note, which was sent on December 22, 2017. The document provides a summary of the main areas where action by the UK government is necessary in order to prevent disruption in IP in the wake of Brexit, and "ensure continuity and certainty of IP law". The government has yet to respond to the Law Society's note, but on December 21, 2017, the government released its "Creative Industries Sector Report", which was compiled to determine the effects of Brexit.
