From April 10th to 11th, the IP5 Deputy Heads Meeting was held in Alexandria, the U.S. Mr. Kunihiko Shimano, Deputy Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office (JPO) attended the Meeting. At the Meeting, the Deputy Heads actively exchanged their opinions on the status of various issues, such as IP5 project evaluation and reorganization; the Global Dossier Initiative; harmonization of patent examination practices; and standard essential patents (SEPs). Also, before the IP5 Deputy Heads Meeting, Deputy Commissioner Shimano had a meeting with Mr. Raimund Lutz, Vice President of the European Patent Office (EPO), and exchanged views on IP5 project evaluation and reorganization and SEPs.
