Judicial Symposium on Intellectual Property / TOKYO 2018

The Japan Patent Office (JPO) is pleased to announce that it is co-hosting “Judicial Symposium on Intellectual Property / TOKYO 2018” on Wednesday, October 31 and Thursday, November 1, 2018 with Supreme Court of Japan, the Intellectual Property High Court, the Ministry of Justice, the Japan Federation of Bar Associations and the Intellectual Property Lawyers Network Japan. Legal and patent professionals are expected to participate in the symposium.

This symposium is intended to improve users’ understanding of the Japan’s judicial system for intellectual property (IP) and increase predictability of its determination among parties concerned by disseminating domestically and internationally the information on the Japan’s judicial system for intellectual property and its determination. It is also intended to collect the latest information and provide such information to legal professionals and IP users.

At this symposium, mock trials will be demonstrated by judges and attorneys from Japan, France, Germany, the UK and the US and panel discussions on trials and appeals will be delivered from the JPO, the European Patent Office and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
