Yang Tiejun meets with General Manager of IBM Growth Markets

On August 4, Vice Director of State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) Yang Tiejun had an interview with visiting General Manager of IBM Growth Markets Bruno Di Leo and his entourage in Beijing.

Yang said, innovation becomes more and more important in economic and social development under the international financial crisis. In recent years, China witnesses about 20% increase rate in patent application, and its innovation ability is strengthened as well, which need us promote service level to meet the demands of the public by means of information method.

The upcoming China Patent Electronic Examination and Approval System and China Patent Retrieval System aim to offer helps for the public and firms in innovation and economic and trade fields, he added. And he hoped that both sides can probe into cooperation in those fields.

In their meeting, Yang also sent congratulations to Vice President of IBM David J. Kappos who was nominated as American Vice Secretary of Commerce and concurrently as Director of United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Bruno Di Leo appraised the rapid development of SIPO. He thought, providing information service for the public is the most important mission of SIPO and IBM has many years' experiences in this sector. So he hoped the both sides will deepen communication and cooperation in this sector.
