New Court Supports Chongqing's Opening-up

The Liangjiang New Area People's Court in Chongqing, also called the People's Court of China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone, was launched on December 24. The first trials of commercial cases related to matters such as investment, trade and finance will be handled by the newly established court. The first trials of intellectual property-related civil cases involving less than five million Yuan ($726,966) within the jurisdiction of the First Intermediate People's Court of Chongqing and the first trials of foreign-related commercial cases involving less than 10 million yuan that arise in the city will be accepted by the court. The First Intermediate People's Court of Chongqing is the appellate court. At the launching ceremony, Liu Qiang, member of the Chongqing Municipal Standing Committee, pointed out that courts in Chongqing have released a series of judicial regulations and guidelines providing judicial assistance and guarantees for social development and economic growth. The new court is a key step in promoting high-quality opening-up in Chongqing and shoulders the mission of deepening judicial reform, pushing forward regional development and serving the overall situation of the country.
