Google library triggers global concern

Internet giant Google is facing global resistance to its plan to create a huge digital library and bookstore, and the dispute extends to China.
A range of authors, academics, librarians and public interest groups have expressed concern that Google is violating Intellectual Property Rights or IPR. In China, many renowned writers have complained to authorities that they were not notified before their works were scanned and put onto Google’s online library. Such activity is considered illegal.
Meanwhile, a European academics circle is worried that the move will strengthen the United State’s dominant status in the field of information and knowledge. They see it as a threat to the EU’s cultural security.
