On June 17, the Beijing Intellectual Property Court held a symposium for scientific and technological innovation protection academicians and a kick-off meeting for the innovation protection expert committee. Fourteen academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering became the first group of experts of the committee to provide academic support for future trials of technical cases. According to reports, with the help of academicians, Beijing Intellectual Property Court will strengthen the trial of intellectual property rights related to scientific and technological achievements such as patents, new plant varieties, and integrated circuit layout designs, and strengthen the protection of the legal rights of academicians, scientists, and technological innovation enterprises by law; strengthen the research and solving of critical issues, special fields and specific problems, carry out specialized research on thorny issues such as job inventions, technical contracts, computer software, and protection of trade secrets; strengthen intellectual property rights protection of biological genetic resources, traditional Chinese medicine, geographical indications, and new plant varieties with Chinese characteristics; review of significant intellectual property disputes such as standard-essential patents, major scientific research projects, and parallel litigation; strengthen legal research and judgment on judicial protection in the fields of biomedicine, energy and chemical industry, basic raw materials, high-end chips, etc.
