Samsung transfers 577 US patents to TCL CSOT and quits LCD market

According to TheElec, Samsung Display has transferred 557 US patents related to LCD to TCL CSOT in June. Its patents in South Korea were also transferred to TCL CSOT last month, sources said. Up to now, the South Korean tech giant is thought to have sold all its some 2,000 patents related to LCD around the world, marking the effective end of Samsung Display's LCD business. As For TCL CSOT , the acquisition of Samsung Display LCD patents has also strengthened its patent portfolio and will protect it from frequent litigation in the US.
