On November 4th, 2009, China, U.S., Europe 2009 Intellectual Property Seminar—Strategy and Practice for Enterprises was held in Beijing. This seminar was organized by Beijing Intellectual Property Protection Association and co--sponsored by Perkins Coie LLP, Kuhnen & Wacker IP Law Firm and Liu, Shen & Associates. The attendants included Mr. Tian Lipu, Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of P.R.C.; Mr. Liu Zhengang, Director of the Beijing Intellectual Property Office; Mr. Liu Chuanzhi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Legend Group; Mr. Michael J. Wise, Ms. Zoe Wang and Mr. James Zhu, partners of Perkins Coie LLP; Mr. Michael Topf, a partner of Kuhnen & Wacker IP Law Firm ; Mr. Perru Wu Yang, President of Liu, Shen & Associates; and experienced attorneys from China, U.S. and Europe.
 
From professional perspective, this seminar introduced key knowledge on the latest development of intellectual property protection in the world, illustrated the patent writing, authorization, commercialization, protection and provided practical advice. Prestigious Chinese entrepreneurs also joined this seminar to discuss IP related issues with and gave speeches on their domestic and overseas IP protection experiences.
 
According to this seminar, patent, as the core element of the competitiveness of enterprises, was a strong indicator of the strength of the enterprise as well as of the overall national strength and more importantly, a powerful weapon when competing with international counterparts. How to precisely understand a company’s strength as well as an opponent’s and win the IP enforcement battle is vital for every enterprise to fully understand IP implementation and developing trends, finding out shortages and taking measures to make adjustments strategically.
 
On November 6th, a seminar with the same theme and organized by the Supervision and Administration Bureau of Shenzhen will be held in Shenzhen. Experts and attorneys will give speeches on the special IP protection situation of Shenzhen.(Chinaip  Li Wei)
