2009/11/25

On November 19, Vice Director of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) Gan Shaoning expressed that, the IPR consciousness of Chinese people is still weak and the favorable atmosphere of advocating invention and creation and respecting IPR is not created in the whole society. However, IPR creation, management, protection and utilization has gradually become the main factors in impelling economic and social development and IPR increasingly becomes one of the focuses in international competence.
It is reported that, only 3‱ of the domestic enterprises own proprietary IPR, merely 1.1% enterprises were granted with patents of which only 0.17% obtain invention patents and just 40% enterprises have their own trademarks.
According to Gan Shaoning, China's IP cause is on its initial stage, the ability and level in using IP system needs improving, IPR system is not set up in all the enterprises, enterprises did not really develop into the main body of innovation and they did not become the main body of IPR work, either.
