Water Project Produces Dozens Patent Applications

According to the National Development and Reform Commission, 129.5 billion yuan has been invested into south-to-north water diversion project, representing 56% of the total amount, and a dozens of patent applications have been filed.

There are 98 individual designs approved since 2002, representing 63% of the total. Among technical innovation achievements gained, 13 technical standards have been formulated, and 12 patent applications generated. Among all the technologies created, 116 were for the canal in the Beijing area.

The south-to-north watering project is divided into eastern line, middle line, and western line, which would achieve 44.8 billion cubic meters overall in 2050. The project would be executed in several periods: the eastern line project would connect through Yangtze River, Huang River, Huai River and Hai River.
