In 2009, Beijing has identified 3,557 products of 1,290 units as the city-level innovation products; a total of 55 products in 43 units were identified as the preferential purchasing products of Beijing Municipal People's Government, which were expected to reach a total output value of over 10 billion yuan, and have great market potential. 256 projects of the city have purchased independent innovation products with amount of 3.3 billion yuan, accounting for 37% of the total investment ratio. The sales revenue was increased by an average of over 20%, and the market share was increased by 5% on average after enterprises' products were identified as Beijing independent innovation products. The R&D expenditures of the enterprises in the catalog of independent innovation products were increased by more than 30%, higher than the average level of enterprises in the whole city. Moreover, Beijing's 51 products were selected in the first batch of 243 national independent innovation products, number of selected products accounted for 21% of the national total, ranking the first in the country.

This year, Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission will continue to do well the identification work on innovative products, and strive to make the city's number of products of independent innovation break 8,000 pieces, and bring more products of Zhongguancun Park accorded with government procurement requirements to Beijing independent innovation products and recommend them into the scope of national pilot for independent innovation products, encourage and guide enterprises to strengthen technological innovation, and constantly develop and produce their own innovative products with intellectual property rights, technological content and market prospects.
