Cases investigated by Guangzhou Customs increased by two times

According to the statistics released on March 2 by Guangzhou Customs, the department investigated in a special campaign 2100 cases suspected of infringements, 210% higher than last year.

In 2009, Guangzhou Customs reinforced the cooperation with industry associations, implemented the pre-verification system for OEM authorization, and informed enterprises with notices in the independent brand protection to keep away operation risks.

Statistics showed that, there were 2,100 cases of infringement investigated in total for the whole year, 210% increased. In 2009, about 12,872 batches of infringing goods investigated, 436,437 pieces in total, among which there were significant cases involving infringement to 20 world-famous watch brands and cases of infringements to "Vantage" gas hob and "DIAMOND" pressure saucepan. Meanwhile, Guangzhou Customs again handed over to the local police the case of "LV" infringement.

It is learnt that, since June 1, 2009, Guangzhou Customs has carried out the special campaign to protect IPRs in mails and express mails, combated illegal behaviors of sending infringing articles through online trading. During the campaign, the Customs successfully blocked up 12,136 batches of exporting goods, involving 194,667 pieces of infringing goods, including the case of counterfeited "UGG" boots.
