2010/03/31

"Till the year 2020, China will develop into a country with higher IPR use level," said Tian Lipu, China State Intellectual Property Office Commissioner when participating in the Regional Proseminar of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on Carrying out Developing Agenda.
The year 2010 is the 25th anniversary when China joined Paris Convention on the Protection of Industrial Property and the 30th anniversary for China entering WIPO. Tian denoted that, for the past 30 years, China achieved notable achievements in IPR cause, particularly since June 2008, China issued national IPR strategy outline, which provided powerful supports for the construction of innovation-oriented state; besides, China confirmed IPR development orientation, i.e. creation inspiration, effective use, protection in accordance with laws and scientific management.
Guided by the IPR strategy, the patent and trademark applications in 2009 in China kept fast growth. Based on the statistics of WIPO, China's PCT applications in 2009 jumped to the fifth in the world.
That WIPO firstly held the regional proseminar on developing agenda in China is an important step for WIPO to carry out the development agenda, believed Tian Lipu.
