SIPO Commissioner meets WIPO Deputy Director-General
On April 1, Commissioner of State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) Tian Lipu met with WIPO Deputy Director-General Geoffrey Onyeama and his party in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on IPR issues.
Tian Lipu pointed out that, China is a developing country and Chinese State Intellectual Property Office attaches great importance to the cooperation with developing countries including the cooperation with Africa, Middle Asia and Gulf Regions. China is willing to share its experience on intellectual property rights with others, and to develop close cooperation with other developing countries by fully using the limited resources and ability. Chinese State Intellectual Property Office is eager to enhance exchanges and cooperation with WIPO.
Geoffrey Onyeama denoted that, China not only pays attention to IPR system, but thinks highly of the role of IPRs in advancing economic development. WIPO believes that, China has determination and ability to take IPR as the tool to boost national development. China has developed into a model in developing IPRs. WIPO will continuously support China in its development, keep close cooperative relationship with Chinese State Intellectual Property Office and make the cooperation between two sides more fruitful.
