General Administration of Customs reinforces World Expo IPR protection

2010/05/10

The General Administration of Customs noted at the IPR protection news release that launching the protection to World Expo labels and other intellectual property rights will be the key work in IPR customs protection this year.
Director of the Department of Policy and Legal Affairs of the General Administration of Customs Meng Yang expressed that, at the beginning this year, the General Administration of Customs, together with the other 8 departments including the State Intellectual Property Office and the Department of Public Security, deployed a 10-month-long special campaign for World Expo IPR protection. The campaign covers three facets, i.e. investigating the illegal behaviors infringing World Expo labels, addressing IPR infringement issues in Shanghai and Yangzte River Delta, and reinforcing investigation over influential cases at home.
Since mail services and express delivery have become one of the main channels by which infringing goods were delivered, the customs across the nation will launch special campaigns in such channels as postal system, express delivery, travelling inspection and freight.
