Beijing releases top ten IPR cases in 2009

Lately, Beijing Municipal Higher People's Court released the top ten IPR cases in 2009. Last year, 4 cases related to trademark infringement and unfair competition and the proportion of commercial disputes increased, covering different industries including food & drink, garment and IT.
It is informed that in the ten top cases, another seven cases involved copyright infringement (3 items), patent infringement (2 items) and computer software copyright infringement (1 item).
Chen Jinchuan, the presiding judge of the IPR Tribunal of Beijing Municipal Higher People's Court, denoted that, the increase of cases related to trademark infringement and unfair competition reflected the alteration of the pattern of economic growth. Related governmental departments should intensify the support and protection to national industries and brands. The IPR protection of judicial authorities plays an irreplaceable role in inspiring indigenous innovation and the cultivation of indigenous brands.
