SIPO and PRV sign memorandum of understanding

On May 20, Vice Deputy of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) Yang Tiejun met with the Director General of Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV) Susanne Sivborg. After the meeting, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding.
Yang Tiejun introduced to the guests patent applications and grants in China, the third revision of the Patent Law and China’s IPR strategy. Yang pointed out that, in 2009, patent applications kept rising, particularly the proportion of applications filed by domestic enterprises to in-house applications reached 44.9%; meanwhile, patent grants also increased and the accumulated number of patent grants outnumbered 3 million items.
Susanne Sivborg congratulated China on its progress of IPR cause. She briefed the latest situation of SPR and European Patent Office and hoped to further cooperate with SIPO, especially the exchange of experience on instituting national IPR strategies.
The MOU mainly covered information communications, the share of legislative experience, personnel training and document exchange.
