New trend on IP protection appears in Shanghai Expo

It is learnt from the Law Affairs Department of Shanghai Expo Bureau that, as of May 15, China totally investigated 489 IP infringing cases and other IP cases since this year, which exceeded the amount of the last five years.

It is introduced that, the IP infringing cases concerning the IPRs of World Expo present new characteristics on number, region and infringing main body: the growth of IP infringing cases was continuously accelerated. And the cases investigated in the previous five months were over 3 times than the amount in last year.

Shanghai Expo always insists on two aspects: the first is the protection of the Expo's name, emblem, mascot and theme song; the second is the exhibitors and third-parties' IP protection including hall appearance, trademarks, new inventions, new technologies, as well as the background music played inside the Expo Park and a number of theatrical performances.
