GM Pontiac brand closed down

GM announced on Nov.1 that due to expiration of GM's contract with Pontiac dealers, the 84-year-old brand is officially closed down.

  Last April, GM has made the decision to phase out Pontiac brand by the end of 2010. GM said that for rebirth of the Group, it had to stop producing Pontiac, which has the lowest sales rate in GM system. GM will only keep Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC in the future.Analysis shows that on the eve of IPO reboot, GM closed down the Pontiac brand in order to retain high quality assets while disposing the cumbersome for Wall Street and accelerate the restructuring process of GM.
