2010/11/16

Hong Kong ranks the third in IPR protection among 12 major investing countries and regions in Asian-pacific area, reported by local media.

Political and Economic Risk Consultancy Co., Ltd, headquartered in Hong Kong, surveyed 1,258 foreign businessmen on the performance of IPR protection in 12 major investing countries and regions in Asian-pacific area.

The report shows that Singapore surpasses the others in IPR protection and ranks the top, followed by Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Indonesia is at the bottom. The list also reveals that film and software piracy has already influenced the global market. The report also points out that the low rating of Indonesia, Vietnam and Philippine is not only due to insufficient consciousness in IPR protection, but also related to their infrastructure and incapable bureaucracy.

China has a strong economic system and is gradually increasing its competitiveness. It has made significant progress in cracking down on IPR infringement, which has aroused many multinational companies to bring their own technologies to China, trying to explore new businesses.
