Shanghai focused on combating intellectual property infringement in cultural markets

Since the launch of a special campaign on cracking down upon intellectual property infringement, Shanghai cultural market administrative law enforcement team has conducted investigations in markets on printing, audio &video publications, internet, entertainment, art as well as in internet cafes, and achieved satisfying results.
According to the “Notice on combating illegal music websites” released by the general office of the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China, the cultural law enforcement team has investigated several music websites, such as qq163, aiting and yykc, and ordered to shut down these three websites and imposed penalties on them.

On January 12, the cultural law enforcement team investigated a case suing Shanghai Synacast Co. Ltd for illegal distribution of 9 audio & video products, such as Up ; on February 23, it inspected a case on unauthorized copying and using of computer software by Shanghai Automobile Air Conditioning Co., Ltd.; On February 25, it examined a case on operational internet cultural activities.

For more and more online copyright infringement and piracy, Shanghai cultural law enforcement team actively took measures to supervise over 1000 websites on fields of internet culture (games and animation), publications and audio-visual materials.

Zhu Yaoren, deputy leader of shanghai cultural law enforcement team, said that the public were encouraged to report illegal activities in cultural markets via 24 hour hotline 12318.
