Shanxi Department of Culture organized IP lectures

Legal experts were invited by Shanxi Department of Culture to give lectures on intellectual property (IP) issues. Director-general of the Department Mr. Zhang Mingliang presided over the seminar.

Announcing the opening of the lectures, Zhang required local authorities in charge of cultural issues to earnestly implement the Plans of Shanxi Department of Culture on Intellectual Property Protection, formulate policies in a strategic perspective and proceed in practice in a down-to-earth manner. He called on relevant departments to enhance the protection of intellectual property rights and promote IP’s contribution to cultural industry.

During the lectures, experts explained the important and special role of intellectual property in globalization and in today's knowledge-driven economy and analyzed the misunderstandings in the vital area, due to which, the audience's awareness in IP utilization and creation was greatly enhanced. The lectures were also considered as thought-provoking, for it opened a new perspective for people to think about the relations between intellectual property and the local cultural industry.
