The 4th Cross-Strait IP Forum was held in Fuzhou City of Fujian Province on June 19. Experts and scholars from both sides discussed the IPR protection problems, calling to strengthen the  cooperation in IPR protection and the exchange of IP talents.

Zhang Guangliang, Professor of the Intellectual Property Institute of Renmin University of China, said that with the increase of the cross-strait economic and technological exchanges, IP related cases correspondingly piled up. The two sides could learn from each other over IPR protection. For example, as for the trail of IP cases, courts in the mainland China adopted an institution of judicial expertise, expert witness and technical survey in the evidence collecting section while Taiwan adopted a technical examination system.

Yuan Jianzhong, Professor of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, said the mainland was in an desperate need of IP talents while Taiwan had rich experiences in IP talents cultivation. The two sides could take the advantage of each other and achieve mutual development.

The forum was themed with "Intellectual Property and Transformation of Economic Development Mode". Cao Donggen from the Patent Examination Administration Department of the State Intellectual Property Office expressed that since the signing of Cross-Strait Intellectual Property Right Protection Cooperation Agreement in June 2010, the two sides had done a lot of effective work on reciprocal judicial assistance. For example, Hujian Province had made some achievements on expanding IPR communication and cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan.
