A digital music alliance was established last month to help regulate the market, fight piracy and encourage original creativity.

Twenty companies are founding members of the organization, including major record companies Ocean Butterflies International and Rock Mobile.

Website portals and Internet search sites Sina, Tencent and Baidu, as well as telecom giants China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom, also joined the alliance.

The members vowed to seek new business models for sustainable and healthy development of the digital music industry.
