300 applications filed under AQSIQ's program on key technical standards

A project launched by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) for promoting key technical standards has recently passed the panel review, with 317 domestic applications being filed so far, according to information released by the Administration.

The project on promoting key technical standards has been greatly supported by the state during the Eleventh Five-year Plan, said an official of AQSIQ. It has significantly contributed to the development of technical standards in China by helping introducing effective approaches in information and equipment manufacturing industries and setting up a comparison scheme for industries check on the differences between domestic and international standards on general techniques.

It was known that under the project, 42 international standards, 336 national norms and 173 industrial criteria have been developed indigenously; 8 international patent applications have been filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) besides the 317 domestic applications mentioned above. It has also resulted in the registration of copyright for 25 sets of computer software. 

According to an expert, the intellectual properties developed under the key technical standards propelling project are of significant importance to the overall improvement of China's technical standards and to the resolution of prominent and urgent problems.
