Beijing preserved fruits craft applying for ICH

Beijing preserved fruit has a history of more than 300 years. Its unique producing skills are under application for Beijing intangible cultural heritage (ICH). 

Beijing preserved fruit has been well-known at home and overseas since the late Qing Dynasty and the early years of the Republic of China. The producing skills originated from the imperial kitchen of the late Ming dynasty. As the Chinese pronunciation of preserved fruit sounds like "国富" (pinyin:guofu, meaning strong nation and rich people), it won the heart of everyone in the imperial palace

It is reported that Beijing Hongluo Food has a history of 102 years and its forerunner "聚顺和" (jushunhe) started in 1909.President of Hongluo Food Co., Ltd. Li Xiaohua said, "We are applying for municipal and national ICH. We will turn the handmade Beijing specialty into preserved snack food in an industrial and functional way. "
