SIPO handled 6,512 cases on patent counterfeiting in 2012

Tian Lipu, Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office, said in a working conference convened on January 8th that in 2012 the Chinese IP system dealt with a total of 9,022 patent cases, two times more than the figure in 2011, in which 6,512 were on patent counterfeiting and 2,510 were on patent disputes (2,232 on patent infringement and 278 of other types of dispute).

Tian said that the SIPO will further promote pilot programs on streamlined procedures in protecting intellectual property rights based on what has been achieved in the first such program  in Zhongshan, Guangdong province last year. Moreover, effective enforcement platforms such as protection aid centers and complaint receiving centers will be duly established.
