Zhongguancun sees huge patent growth

In the first half of 2013, Zhonguancun companies applied for 14,122 patents, an increase of 28.8 percent year-on-year. The applications account for 26.8 percent of total applications in Beijing.

The number of applications for invention patents totaled 8,166, accounting for 29.5 percent of the total of Beijing, an increase of 22.2 percent year-on-year. The patents granted to the enterprises in Zhongguancun in the first half of the year totaled 10,555. This is the first time applications have exceeded 10,000 applications and represents a year-on-year increase of 45.6 percent.

Patents for inventions granted to Zhongguancun totaled 3,341, accounting for 31.1 percent of Beijing’s total. Zhongguancun enterprises have a total of 25,317 patents, accounting for 66.2 percent of total patents for enterprises in Beijing.
