Shanghai ranks the sixth in registered trademark in force

As of the end of 2013, Shanghai has owned a total of 364,500 registered trademark in force (including 165 Chinese Well-known Trademarks and 1,156 Shanghai Famous Trademarks), up 15.2% year-on-year, ranking the 6th place and accounting for 5.7% of total such marks in China.


In 2013 alone, trademark applications in Shanghai hit 106,400 and registered trademarks reached 57,400. Guangdong ranked 1st with a total of 1,127,000 registered trademarks, followed by Zhejiang (864,000), Beijing (467,000), Jiangsu (459,000) and Fujian (400,000).


In Shanghai, as of the end of last year, Pudong District has held 66,800 trademarks in force, followed by Jiading District, Minhang District, Songjiang District and Jinshan District. The total trademarks in force held by the abovementioned five districts accounted for 49.9% of the total in Shanghai.
