Chinese Vice-Premier Wang Yang told the International Seed Federation congress last month that the nation's scientists "have developed a great number of fine agricultural varieties over the past decades that are key to increasing grain production and safety", adding that authorities will enhance intellectual property protection to advance growth in the industry. It was is the first time the congress has been held in China since 1924.
