Shandong: Semisubmersible Drilling Rig for Arctic Finishes Trial Voyage

China's first home-developed semisubmersible drilling rig that can work in the Arctic finished a 14-day trial voyage last week. Designed and built by Yantai Raffles Offshore, a subsidiary of China International Marine Containers Group, the North Dragon has a maximum racking capacity of 8,000 meters and can work at a temperature of -20 C to cater to the environment in the Barents Sea. The platform will be delivered to Norway's North Sea Rigs at the end of this year.
