On July 10, the State Intellectual Property Office of China held a regular press conference for the third quarter of 2018 in Beijing. It is the first time for State Intellectual Property Office of China after reforming to release statistical data on patents, trademarks, geographical indications. In the first half of 2018, China's main intellectual property indicators had a rapid growth and showed a good momentum of development. Among them, China has applied for 751, 000 patents for invention and granted 217, 000 patents for invention, 3.586 million applications for trademark registration and 10 new applications for protection of geographical indications. And in the first half of this year, China applied for 751 thousand invention patents. Of which 217,000 patents granted for invention, 171,000 were granted for domestic invention. Among the domestic patent authorization for invention, 159,000 official inventions, accounting for 93.2%; 12,000 non-official inventions, or 6.8%. By the end of June 2018, China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) had a total of 1475,000 invention patents, with 10.6 per 10,000 people. In addition, in the first half of this year, the state intellectual property office received 23000 international patent applications through the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) , up 6.3% year on year, 21600 of them come from domestic, up 7.6% from a year earlier.
